Abstract
Creating a safe workplace without accidents represents the main aim of any study on work science. However, human activity within a workplace and especially in the mining industry, no matter how advanced and tech it is, is subject to a risk of accidents and diseases. Therefore, the prevention of this risk is a continuous concern of the Romanian state through its’ dedicated institutions, as fundamental responsibility, with a systematic and unitary treatment, using all legal, technical and financial tools available for a continuous development of the prevention policy, consistent and coherent, focused on the organization of work, working conditions and technologies. This work presents an analysis of the occupational health and safety legislation in coal mining (hardcoal and lignite), its’ alignment to European Directives in the field, as well as a statistic of unwanted events which occurred in previous years. Keywords: analysis, work, safety, health, legislation, event.
