Abstract
In this paper, the authors present a clear and systematic procedure for defining and simulating the electromagnetic field in an induction motor with squirrel cage rotor with high bars, the main steps of which have been exemplified for a concrete application. In this sense, the representative case study of induction motors powered at medium voltage (6 kV) was chosen, from the ancillary services of a thermoelectric power plant with groups of 500 MW, which drive different types of pumps from the technological process. A comparative analysis of the results obtained by analytical calculation performed with a complete mathematical model and optimized simulation in ANSYS® Design for the studied motor was then performed.
